Located 50km from Prague, the Karlštejn Castle was built in the middle of the 14th century for the emperor and King Charles IV. It represents a beautiful ensemble of architectural, historical and artistic monuments. The most important attraction of this fabulous castle is the Church of Our Lady, built in 1357 and has the most breathtaking medieval frescoes. In the corner of the church is the royal chapel, the walls of which are covered with precious stones. The most treasured pearl of the castle is the chapel of the Holy Cross in the Great Tower, inlaid with semi-precious stones. The coronation jewels were kept there until 1420.
